Eero Saarinen
Womb chair, Model
No.70, 1947-1948
Bent tubular steel frame with
fabric-covered upholstered moulded
fibreglass seat shell and latex foam
cusions, nylon glides
The No.70 incorporated a moulded fibreglass
seat shell. With its generous proportions and
organic form, it invited the user to curl up
in it. Because of this it eventually became
known as the "Womb" chair.
