The "Crate" chair was intended for
use in weekend homes and, like the
"Zig-Zag" chair, reveals Rietveld's
return to elemental constructions.
As a response to the economic slumps
of the 1930s, this system of seating
can be seen as an early example of
"Poor Art".







crate はガラスなどを運ぶ木枠をさします。そうこの椅子はリサイクル製品なのです。線路の枕木で作ったデッキ、樽材を利用したス ピーカ、また古い民家の廃材はいろいろな用途に使われています。2000s は 1930s と似ているのかもしれません。
それにしても、山荘のデッキに似合いそうです・・・。
